Steering an intervention from another hospital.

When a stroke blocks a vessel in the brain, roughly 1.9 million neurons die every minute, and the specialists who can remove the clot work almost entirely in large city hospitals. NanoFlex Robotics, a Swiss medtech start-up spun out of ETH Zürich, is building the Remote Intervention System to close that gap. A magnetic field steers the catheter, so the specialist can treat a patient in a hospital they are not standing in. I designed the interface the system is steered through, in a cooperation that began as a school project and became my diploma at the Schule für Gestaltung Zürich.
